CLASSES

From classical ballet to hip hop, we have classes to suit all interests! Scroll down to see our timetable and find out more about the classes we offer.

Our classes for our Year 4-5 dancers are carefully structured with an emphasis on a balance of activity, positivity, fun, and developmental growth.

Your child will make friends and memories that will last a lifetime, and pick up a skill that is proven to release anxiety and stress. It's a win-win-win situation!

Our classes are designed to progress your young dancer in a fun and creative way, that still challenges them to do their best.

* Technique & Stretch recommended for all year 4 & 5 jazz and lyrical contemporary students

** Auditions for Junior Performance Team November 1, students must also take Jazz + technique class to be eligible. Ballet is highly recommended.

BALLET

The comprehensive Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D) classical ballet syllabus is taught by our highly qualified teachers. It provides a great foundation for all styles of dance improving flexibility, core strength, grace and posture.  The R.A.D syllabus engages children through the creative exercises and our students attend class for fun and fitness or from 7 years of age have the opportunity to enter R.A.D  Class Awards (Year 2 to 5 at school) or Examinations (from Year 6 at school).

LYRICAL / CONTEMPORARY

Lyrical Contemporary is the perfect class for those who wish to combine their love of classical ballet with modern dance. Featuring controlled, fluid movements and expressive routines, this class allows for personal expression taught in a fun and playful way. Lyrical Contemporary students are encouraged to also enrol into a Technique class and / or Ballet class where they will build on the foundations of dance.

GLEE

Who doesn't love Glee Club? For students ages Kindy to Year 6 this fun class combines all the elements of a great vocal, dance and performance class boosting confidence, co-ordination and group camaraderie.  Class starts with a vocal warm-up, breathing exercises and tongue twisters to help articulate speech. After this we move to singing and movement, students learn to sing and dance to pop and musical theatre favourites!

PERFORMACE TEAMS

Jazz Performance Teams from Year 2 to High School are selected by invitation or audition and will perform at the NBD mid year and end of year performances, local eisteddfods and community events.  Please enquire for more information. Click here to learn more about our Performance Teams.

JAZZ

One of the fundamentals of dance, jazz is forever changing to suit today's world. From pop hits to Broadway show stoppers, this versatile style not only develops great dancers but boosts each student's creativity, confidence and ability to retain information.  At NBD we follow the progressive International Dance Technique syllabus and teach fun, energetic and age appropriate routines to pop and children's songs with a great beat!  Students Year 4 and over are encouraged to also enrol into a technique class where they will build on the foundations of dance.

HIP HOP

Hip Hop is a high energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing. In our Hip Hop classes students will learn age appropriate routines suitable for both boys and girls taught by our highly trained, industry professionals.

TECHNIQUE & STRETCH

Technique is essential in ensuring the ongoing success of any dancer.  Recommended for students Year 4 and over who are taking jazz or lyrical contemporary. We teach the International Dance Technique syllabus, IDT includes progressive stretch exercises and age appropriate conditioning exercises to strengthen muscles, increase agility, control and power in dance combos. The syllabus progressively trains all relevant Kick, Turn and Jump techniques.  This myriad of dance basics enables greater expression and freedom of movement.
